Friends are neat. One of life marvels are friends that are close. You can just tell. I'm talking about when friends who get to that point where they don't really need to talk.... to talk. Example scenario:
Friend 1: *Looks at friend 2*
Friend 2: "Shut up."
F1: *Keeps looking*
F2: "No way..."
F1: *Double eyebrow raise + downward head tilt*
F2: "Splendid."
Lesser Friend that's awkwardly sitting to the side: *smiles slowly, laughs awkwardly, and gracelessly claps*

As a disclaimer, I have never experienced this tragedy. Maybe.
HAHA. Those intimate moments remind me of the divinely placed Scripture relating to the importance of being together.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Brief background: This guy, Solomon, was smart (1 King 4:30). When you get the chance to read Ecclesiastes, you'll notice some things.
- Everything is meaningless
- Everything is meaningless
- Everything is meaningless
- Friends are good to have
- Meaningless
- Nothing new under the sun
- New stuff under the Son
- Blah.
Please don't declare me a heretic. HAHA. I'm half-joking. On a serious note, there's more to the book, so read it. As you do, you might get the idea that Solomon is on the first seat of the struggle bus. He's that kid that would always talk to the bus driver because no one else would talk to him. You can feel the emotional toil going on through the writer's mind. Solomon, if anyone, had it "all." He was surrounded by wealth, people, glory, everything! And yet, God, working through this broken man, ordained that a portion of the book be dedicated, to talking about being in "togetherness." Solomon knew that friendship was important.
More than friends are nice, I think friends and community are necessary. We help each other, we work off each other, and we grow with each other.
I love how for good friends, things don't have to be so clear. You can just tell.
